Recycling Event Approaching
Keep Phoenix Beautiful will partner with The City of Phoenix Public Works Department and dozens of other local organizations for the “I Recycle Phoenix Festival” from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4th. The event will be held at Cesar Chavez High School located off 39th Avenue and Baseline Road. You do not need to be a City of Phoenix Resident to participate in this free recycling event.
“At our event in Central Phoenix last December, we shredded 30,000 pounds of paper and recycled 10 tons of electronics. With the support of City of Phoenix and the surrounding community, we expect to surpass those numbers in May” said Tom Waldeck, executive director of Keep Phoenix Beautiful.
This free recycle-palooza offers one convenient location for recycling a variety of items including electronics, telephone books, writing instruments (pens, pencils and markers), regular recyclables, clothing, golf balls and much more. Participants also can have their old computer hard-drives and personal documents shredded and recycled.
Participating organizations include: City of Phoenix, Keep Phoenix Beautiful, Westech Recyclers, Goodwill Arizona, Treasures 4 Teachers, Batteries Plus, Verizon Wireless Hopeline, Arizona Center for the Blind, and many others.
Keep Phoenix Beautiful is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization (formerly known as Phoenix Clean and Beautiful).
