Library Celebrating Book Launch
Phoenix Public Library will host a celebration to launch Sasha and Rodney Glassman’s new book, “Jeremy Jackrabbit Recycles the Can,” 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Burton Barr Central Library, located at 1221 N. Central Ave.
Illustrated by children from Scottsdale, Laveen, Peoria, Mesa and Phoenix, more than 45,000 copies of the book will be distributed free of charge to every kindergarten student in Maricopa County.
Mayor Greg Stanton will read the book after which the young artists will be available to sign the pages in the book which they illustrated.
Sasha Glassman is an attorney and member of the Madison Elementary School District Governing Board. Rodney Glassman, PhD in arid land resource sciences and former Tucson city councilman, wrote the first-in-the-nation mandatory rainwater harvesting, gray water plumbing and solar-powered water heating ordinances. The project is supported by SRP, University of Phoenix, Waste Management, UFCW, Humana, City of Tempe, UA Local 469, ASU Foundation and the Madison Education Foundation.
