Grant Supporting Teachers
The Roosevelt School District, in collaboration with Arizona State University, is the recipient of a U.S. Department of Education Teacher Quality grant. All three state universities are partners in the grant. The grant¹s purpose is to focus on new teacher training and the implementation of best practices for Common Core mathematics instruction.
The grant, totaling $948,440.00 will provide support for teachers in the Sunnyside School District in South Tucson, Flagstaff Unified and the Roosevelt School District. Roosevelt is the only district in Maricopa County selected to collaborate with ASU on the project. Roosevelt¹s work with ASU will begin in several weeks and new teachers will receive training throughout the 2013-2014 school year.
Roosevelt¹s ongoing goal of providing teachers with training that supports the rigorous requirements of the Common Core standards will be greatly enhanced by their partnership with ASU.
