Garden Territory Offering Fall Workshops

The Garden Territory is located at the Farm at South Mountain on the rear of the property at 6106 S. 32nd St.

October 28 – Saturday
Simple Organic Soups
It’s that time again to get cozy in your kitchen.  Here are some delicious one pot meals to prepare, that are easy to get the ingredients and make at home.  Join our Holistic Nutrition Educator, Terri as she shares some of her seasonal favorites. She’ll be making and you’ll be eating these delicious soups: White Bean and Escarole Soup, Roasted Squash and Pear Soup with a Sunflower Drizzle and Catherine Naughton’s Potato Soup a Scotch-Irish Tradition

Bountiful Fall Organic Gardening 101
Do you want to start a garden, but don’t know where to begin?  Expand your field of knowledge about our desert soil, selecting season appropriate plants and how to nurture an organic garden.  Leslie will put you on a path to success with simple information and detailed handouts.  A free 1 lb. bag of Earthworm Castings from our Organic Garden Shop is included.

Herban Gardeners:  Cool Season Herbs
Crisp, cool weather is just around the corner.  Snipping sprigs of fragrant herbs with which to cook, craft or scent your home with is a simple way to enhance the upcoming holidays.  There’s nothing too difficult about growing herbs organically—you just need a few tricks of the trade.  Join Leslie for an introduction to her top 5 favorites Lavender, Rosemary, Mint, Cilantro and Parsley.  A free herb transplant from our Organic Garden Shop is included.

Growing Garlic: A Garden Short Course
The French called it a “stinking rose” and the young Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamen was sent into the afterlife with it.  Find out why roses love garlic and more, in this jammed packed short course.  You’ll learn how to select, cultivate and harvest garlic. A free head of Garlic from our Organic Garden Shop is included.

Fall Bulbs and Seeds for Spring Flowers
Some of our favorite spring flowers are planted now.  Don’t wait until they are blooming in spring to decide to plant them!   We’ll focus on our top four favorite flowering plants, Larkspur (long lasting tall blooms), Poppies (endless choices), Ranunculus (colorful and reliable) and Freesia (a heavenly scent “to live for”).
 A free pack of seeds from our Organic Garden Shop is included.

November Noël – Entertaining Event
Holiday Gift Making Workshops – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Santa may have elves, but you have the Barn goddesses to make your holidays simple.  Join us for a day of fun filled gift making, food and frolic!   Leave the malls, and traffic behind and slip into the holiday mood among the beauty of our gardens.  We’ll help check names of your list with great gifts you can craft by hand.  Attend one or more of the activities or make a day of it by selecting four workshops. Vintage Chic – Altered Bag Book
Love shabby style?  This is the perfect book for you!  You will create a beautiful paper bag journal in a vintage chic style to capture your family traditions.  Bring a few family memories with you (holiday tradition stories, family recipes, or photos).  You will love the result and your family will cherish the memories.
No previous experience needed.

Organics on a Budget
Join Terri on a “road trip”* to seek out great organic food sources, get simple budget tips, and take the mystery out of shopping seasonally.  You’ll head to Terri’s favorite farmer’s markets, stores and sources.  You can eat healthfully for less!

How to Use Essential Oils for the Holidays
"Yule" learn how to scent Holiday Cards, that dusty artificial tree, and your home for the Yule Time Traditions.  Here is one more way to say I love you to your friends and family.  Join our Certified Aromatherapist Terri as she shares ancient folklore and traditions that are still used today.  Have you ever wondered why?  The Three Wise Men knew and now you can too!  You’ll make and take home 3 scents using our Organic Essential Oils from our Aromatherapy Bar.  Frankincense, Pine and Clove, are just a few of the many choices.
