First Laveen McDonalds Restaurant Set To Open May 16
Laveen residents and its schools are “lovin’ it” with the opening of the first McDonald’s restaurant in their community. The new restaurant, located at 51st Ave. and Baseline, will officially open Tuesday, May 16th, kicking off a weeklong McTeacher’s Night fundraiser that is expected to raise thousands of dollars for Laveen elementary schools, middle school and high school.
As part of its grand opening celebration, the new restaurant will also host a McTeacher’s Night fundraiser for each of Laveen’s schools.
The “Battle of the Laveen Schools” will begin May 16th with McTeacher’s Night fundraisers for Vista del Sur Middle School; Cheatham School, May 17th; Laveen Elementary, May 18th; and M.C. Cash School, May 19th. The elementary school that raises the most money will receive an additional $1,000 donation from McDonald’s owner Lee Heriaud.
As part of each McTeacher’s Night fundraiser, a portion of McDonald’s sales during 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will benefit each school. Each school’s principal and up to 10 teachers will “work” at McDonald’s greeting customers, working the registers. Families of students and local school supporters are encouraged to visit McDonald’s and tip their teachers to help raise funds.
On Saturday, May 20th, a portion of McDonald’s sales during 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will benefit Cesar Chavez High School. The high school teachers and cheerleaders will serve customers and the high school band will perform. A special appearance by Ronald McDonald is planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“I am delighted to bring McDonald’s to the Laveen community and work with our local schools to raise money for education, said Lee Heriaud, McDonald’s owner/operator. “I take great pride as a local business owner in giving back to my community.”
According to Heriaud, the new restaurant will have both innovative and contemporary features making it a very comfortable and inviting place for customers.
The exterior of the restaurant is painted in an earth-tone color and the interior features an upscale cafe lounge atmosphere including televisions, upholstered private seating areas, and hanging pendant lights over dining tables. The restaurant will also feature a separate area for interactive video games.
