High School Students Offered Chance to Travel Abroad
If you are a sophomore or junior in high school, a Phoenix resident and interested in traveling to another country, apply for the Phoenix Sister Cities Youth Ambassador Exchange Program. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8.
The Youth Ambassador Exchange Program offers students the opportunity to visit one of Phoenix’s 10 sister cities next summer to learn more about the city and its culture through a three-week home-hosted experience. Phoenix students reciprocate and house their host brother/sister when they visit Phoenix during the same summer. Criteria for selection as a youth ambassador includes self-confidence, maturity, flexibility, leadership and good communication skills.
Phoenix Sister Cities pays half of the travel expenses between Phoenix and the selected sister city, while the remaining half is the responsibility of the students and their families. Financial assistance is available for qualified students.
Phoenix’s sister cities include Calgary, Canada; Catania, Italy; Chengdu, China; Ennis, Ireland; Grenoble, France; Hermosillo, Mexico; Himeji, Japan; Prague, Czech Republic; Ramat-Gan, Israel; and Taipei, Taiwan. For more information or an application, visit phoenixsistercities.org or call 602-534-3751.
